ALF are proud to be exclusively working with a fast-growing specialist lender based in South Manchester who are looking to appoint a Senior Underwriter to take a leading role within their bridging and development finance division. This is not just another underwriting position — it is a senior, strategic role that sits above the existing team, combining complex case underwriting with wider operational involvement and business leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll act as a key decision-maker, working closely with Directors, Business Development Managers, and Operations to drive consistency, improve processes, and help shape the direction of the credit function.
- Underwrite & Structure Complex Bridging and Development Finance Applications
- Senior Oversight on teams’ pipeline – Support Consistent Decision Maker
- Prepare Detailed Lending Recommendations for Credit Committee and Senior Management
- Work together with BDMs to assess New Enquiries / Structure Bespoke Deals and ensure Proposals meet Commercial and Risk Criteria
- Support Directors with Strategic Projects / Operational Improvements and Credit Risk Initiatives
- Identify opportunities to enhance process. Improve turnaround times and strengthen Customer Experience
- Maintain Strong external Relationships with Brokers / Solicitors and Surveyors to ensure deals progress smoothly
What we are looking for
Strong background within Bridging and Development Finance who has the gravitas and seniority to make decisions, influence processes and support wider business goals
- Minimum 5 years’ experience across Bridging and Development Underwriting
- Solid record in Managing Complex, High-Value Cases with Commercial Judgement
- Proven ability to Mentor, Guide and Oversee Junior teams
- Confident communicator – capable of working cross-functionally with Senior Stakeholders
- Excellent Analytical and Risk Assessment Skills
