Client Accountant | £30,000 – £40,000 DOE | Blackburn | Permanent
ALF Recruit are working with a well-established accountancy practice to appoint a Client Accountant, joining a firm that genuinely invests in its people through study support and a clear route for progression.
This is a step up for someone who’s ready to take genuine ownership of their own client portfolio. Working predominantly on Xero, you’ll manage the full bookkeeping cycle through to accounts preparation, with regular direct client contact and the autonomy to build your own working relationships. It’s a role suited to someone who wants the variety of practice life without losing the personal, hands-on service that comes with working in a close-knit team.

What you’ll be doing
- Managing bookkeeping and accounts preparation across a varied portfolio of clients, predominantly using Xero
- Preparing VAT returns and management accounts
- Taking ownership of year-end accounts preparation
- Liaising directly with clients and managing your own relationships
- Working closely with senior team members on more complex assignments
- Supporting the wider team and helping develop more junior members as the practice grows
What we’re looking for
- Solid practice accounts or bookkeeping experience, confident across the full bookkeeping cycle
- Qualified by experience, part-qualified, or holding a relevant qualification – ACCA/ACA/AAT
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
- Confident liaising directly with clients, personable and organised
- A genuine desire to progress and continue developing technically
